In this talk we investigate the construction of fast solvers for the solution of the discrete Stokes problem discretized by means of the hp-version of the finite element method (FEM) on a regular mesh with quadrilaterals. The arising linear system is solved with the so called Bramble-Pasciak-CG, a special variant of the conjugate gradient method (CG) for matrices which are symmetric indefinite, but also symmetric positive definite in a special non-standard scalar product. For elements with discontinuous pressure some results on the iteration numbers are presented and discussed.
