The modeling of the coupled electrical and mechanical behavior of the human heart results in a coupled system of nonlinear time-dependent partial differential equations. The first are the Bidomain Equations the second the equations of quasi-static nonlinear elasticity. In this talk we consider numerical approaches to solve such kind of equations. To this end we will use a space-time discontinuous Galerkin method. This allows the use of rather general space-time meshes over simplex finite elements as well as local adaptive refinement in space and time. After discussing some modeling issues we will focus on the discretization, consistent linearization, aspects of numerical analysis and eventually present some numerical examples.
