Motivated by current research i our research institute on blood flow in cerebral aneurysms, we seek to develop new methodology and software tools for aneurysm treatment using stents. The extremely fine structures of stents make grid generation with standard tools challenging and we therefore consider methods for unfitted meshes.

As a starting point, we will look at Nitsche based methods for unfitted meshes for the Brinkman and time dependent Stokes problem. Different stabilization techniques will be considered for P1-P1 elements. We will also look at operator preconditioning for these stabilized problems with appropriate norms.
