Towards spline degree independed inf-sup constants for the Stokes problem with applications to multigrid methods

Several stable spline space compositions have been suggested and analyzed for the Stokes problem. These include the generalized Raviart--Thomas element and the generalized Taylor--Hood element.It has been proven that the corresponding inf-sup constants are independent of the grid size for these compositions\cite{evans,bressan}. In this talk we investigate the spline degree dependency of the inf-sup constants since this is of great importance for the constructing of robust iterative solvers.
